About Sea Beyond Cancer
Our Purpose
The purpose of Sea Beyond Cancer is to help patients, survivors, and their loved ones cope with the impact of cancer by introducing them to the healing powers of the ocean, while providing a safe, supportive environment in which they can explore their personal experiences with others who share their stories.
We aim to address the growing need for support services for those diagnosed with cancer, those in recovery, and their loved ones—all of whom are affected by cancer.
Our goal is to offer these courageous individuals a respite from their daily concerns, giving them the opportunity to gain a fresh perspective on their fight against cancer.
We facilitate discussions that provide strength, encouragement, and a new network of friends and support. Additionally, we offer cancer education and resources to help individuals better manage their disease. We also introduce new skills that bring joy, enthusiasm, and renewed hope as individuals confront the challenges of cancer survivorship.
Program Goals
Our main goal is to improve the lives of patients, survivors, and their loved ones by providing...
Safe Environment
A safe, reflective environment where participants can discuss their cancer experiences with other men who have gone through it as well, providing support and information to help them in their recovery. And even if you’ve never swum or stood in the ocean, THAT IS OKAY!
Movement
Introductory surf lessons or stand-up paddleboard instruction are available to help participants learn a new skill, form a healing connection with nature, and engage in a sport they can continue throughout their recovery and into their lifetime.
Education
Information about cancer-related resources, both locally and nationally, to facilitate networking and improve the management of recovery.
